David was contracted by BMW to drive two of thier cars at the Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca Raceway this weekend. One was the 1986 March BMW powered GTP car. This car was run in IMSA and the engine which produced 900 horsepower was a 2 litre version of the Formula 1 engine. BMW created their own bodywork for the car achieving more downforce.
"I remember when I was struggling to become a professional driver, going to all the IMSA races in the mid 80's and watching this GTP car run. The first IMSA race I drove was Daytona in 1986 driving a March/Buick GTP car against this car. It was incredible to see it dominate. It was very fast but just when the program was enjoying the benefits of all the hard work and budget winning races, the program ended. It was very special for me to drive this car because of that but also because of the 900 horsespower and downforce. WHAT A CAR! ", David remarked.
The other car David drove, the M1 was built as a Pro car that was set for the Formula 1 drivers championship. This car never ran the F1 circuit but was run in other series with Brian Redman and David Hobbs. It ia always a fan favorite, great styling with great performance and awesome sound. Great car to drive.
China Trip July 3-10 - My trip to China was both interesting and productive. I went to the "China Touring Car Championship" race in Ordos, China. It is a new city in Inner Mongolia very wealthy due to recent mining of valuable materials discovered there. The race track is a first class facility and the racing was very exciting. I was invited over to engineer the car, coach the drivers, and generally help the team with the overall approach to success. After spending time in Ordos at the race weekend we flew to Shanghai and visited two more race tracks, the F1 facility and Tianma Raceway. The F1 facitlity was very impressive. All sports in China are government controlled so the track spared no expense. I discussed a possible partnership of racing/driving business ventures in China and we are moving forward in that direction. I will continue with updates as they progress next year in 2013. Speaking engaugement at July 18 at shop in Danbury , CT- David spoke at Speedsport Tuning for their open house in July. "I was very impressed with the Speedsport facility.I have never been there before and it was larger than I thought and very professional. It was great to see Spencer again and I enjoyed meeting his customers and knew quite a few of them", David said.
China Trip: David Murry will be going to China in July to discuss the possibility of David Murry Track Days events there. He will also attend a Chinese sportscar race and have negotiations with several teams about development as well.

Atlanta Motorsports Park will be active this week after a long awaited completion! We will be scheduling a date for our DMTD event soon. The first half of the track is technical and the last half is high speed with a great flow. He has been a Porsche factory driver and piloted many 911 variants. His wheel time has also been spent in a BMW M3 GTR, a FORD GT, a Riley & Scott MKII open top prototype, a Porsche LMP, a Porsche 968, Formula Fords, NASCAR Winston Cup, and more.
Signups are even stronger this year than last year. This year will be special since VIR has installed FIA curbing to meet the FIA requirements for the ALMS race scheduled later this year. VIR is a "destination" track there are all the amenities on site so there is no need to ever leave during the event. There are hotels, condominiums, restaurant, spa, shooting range, kart tracks, and many other attractions on site so bring everyone in the family with you. All this plus 14 hours of open track time.
Joe Hullett will again join us April 10-11 for our VIR event. He will be there compliments of DMTD and happy to help any of our participants with thier electronics needs. Have wiring needs, data system update needs, can't get something to work? Joe will help get it working for you.
TPC Racing will also be at our April 10-11 VIR event. They are track support so if you need any technical advice with your car these guys are very good and have all the answers. Don't hesitate to ask Mike Levitas or any of the TPC folks questions, they are happy to help.
A lot of progress has been made on AMP since our last video update. The section that was missing last month has been completed with not only GAB but two layers of top ashphalt along with the entire track, guardrail, catch fencing, etc. See the video for a current state of the track. It's located just a half hour north of the north Altanta area in Dawsonville, GA. We will continue with updates of the track. Keep your calendar open for this one.

Series' debut race at VIR will be on 4.1-mile Grand Course

The list of American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón venues continues to grow with the addition of historic Virginia International Raceway for the 2012 season. North America's leading sports car championship will contest its first race at VIR on Saturday, Sept. 15 in a four-hour enduro.
The first ALMS race at VIR - located in Danville, Va. - also will mark the first competition on the track's impressive 4.1-mile, 21-turn Grand Course. It's a safe bet that track speed records will fall at the hands of the world's most exotic prototype sports cars and premier production-based GT cars. The race will be broadcast on ESPN2.
"For years we have received numerous inquiries from fans and competitors on when we would race at VIR, I'm proud to say that time is now," said Scott Atherton, ALMS President and CEO. Car and Driver named it one of the six best road courses in the U.S. and called a lap around the Grand Course the closest thing in America to a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Daytona "Roar before the 24" testing with Mitchum:David Murry is driving the Porsche 911 with Mithcum Motorsports at the Daytona 24 hour race. Testing went well at the January "Roar before the 24" test days. "We had a few minor mechanical issues that kept us from running all of the seassions in full and fine tunning. We did have a competitive run and feel good about the results of the race in a couple of weeks. The team will do a shake down with the car before we go back to Daytona for the race week to run in all the new components installed for the long race ahead. I am really proud to represent Mithcum Motorsports and Liqui Molly as they are both upstanding and qualty enterprises", David said.
David Murry tests Porsche with Mitchum Motorsports at December Grand Am test days in preparation for 2012 Daytona 24 Hour. "Testing went well. We changed to the new larger mandatory Continental tire for the second day and made some suspension changes and calculated what gear ratios we need when we come back in January for the Grand Am test days. Mitchum puts together a solid car and effort", said Murry.
2012 begins the 4th year of "David Murry Track Days". Begining with VIR in 2009, DMTD has continued to grow each year. In 2010 we expanded to 2 dates both at VIR - our original venue, one in the Spring and the other in the Fall. Last year, 2011 continued those dates at VIR and added New Jersey Motorsports Park in the summer. We are pleased to announce our 2012 event schedule with yet another addition to the schedule - Atlanta Motorsports Park, a terrific new track utilizing elevation from the north Georgia rolling hills for a thrilling track layout. Construction of AMP is being finalized over the winter. We are working on more exciting venues and dates and will announce them as they become available.
2012 David Murry Track Days schedule:
